Hi this is Dwayne. I've been in prison for 18 years straight and everyone has changed or moved on and I'm still here in the Special Handling Unit. I still feel the same but my outlook is a lot different.

The Chicago police planted evidence at the crime scene in order to frame me for murder. Then the police, along with the state coerced witnesses and eye witnesses into identifying me as the shooter in order to convict me. I am innocent and have maintained my actual innocence for over 20 years. I can hear the state now saying "he ain't innocent, he shot and killed a man then went on the run for 10 months before turning himself in to the police." What the state is not going to say, is for 10 months the state had no arrest warrant for my arrest, until 10 months after the shooting when I turned myself in.

Serving a Life sentence has come with a lot of obstacles. Time itself is the real punishment. As the calendar days pass, all those most important to you will fall weak to this lifestyle. I've lost so much in the last 20 years.

I've been able to remain humble and still today my biggest weakness is my kindness. Living in a concrete jungle I've had to defend myself with severe violence. I've never really fit in. I'm a bit of a loner. I'd rather play Nintendo or write letters than sports. I think that I'm a gentleman with honest intentions.

The last 7 years I've excelled. I've completed all my programs and stayed with a positive life style. I'm now allowed to stand in front of a Parole Board every two years.

I'm a curious man who enjoys that connection with a female. A little flirty can be fun. I'm very playful and value doing the little things. I've learned to cook decent food. I'd love to show my new skills in the kitchen. I look forward to spending time cooking. I just need that smile while I finish the dishes. I'm a bit of a clean freak, so relax. I'm confused and lost as of today, about release plans. I need some guidance or support. Parole will be a challenge but those who know me would say that I'd never give up the opportunity. Halfway house next step.

I have never been in trouble with the law before and getting involved with my female co-defendant has been the biggest mistake in my life. When I leave prison I want to go back to a peaceful life surrounded by nature. I enjoy cooking for others and to see others happy.

I don't care if you are a man, woman or a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I don't care about someone's religion as long as you are a good person. It does not matter if you are rich or poor. I accept everyone for who they are and not what they are. Hope to hear from someone soon.
